SCHOLARSHIP AND AWARDS

Asian/Pacific American Librarians Association (APALA)
Asian/Pacific American Award for Literature
Seal Design Contest

Background: Since the creation of the Asian/Pacific American Award for Literature Committee at the National Conference of Asian/Pacific American Librarians in 2002, it continues to honor and recognize individual works about Asian/Pacific Americans and their heritages based on literary and artistic merits. There are three categories of award excellence: Adult Literature, Literature for Youth, and Picture Books. By the creation of a distinctive seal, we wish to further promote and broaden awareness of distinguished Asian/Pacific American literary works.

Contest Guideline:
Color: The seal will eventually appear in Gold for Award Books and Silver for Honor Books. The design must be in black and white for better reproduction quality. Size: Round Shape, and 2" in diameter.
Content of seal: Should reflect the heritages and importance of Asian/Pacific
Americans and their Literature.

How and where to submit entry for contest: Please submit designs in gif or jpg format and a completed entry form to the email of the Seal Award Design Subcommittee Chair: Dora Ho, at: dorah2005@gmail.com

Who is eligible: 18 years old or over.

Prize: a $100 honorarium will be awarded to the designer of the winning entry.
