Talk Story: Sharing stories, sharing culture is a joint family literacy project between the Asian/Pacific American Library Association and the American Indian Library Association intended to reach out to Asian Pacific American (APA) and American Indian/Alaska Native (AIAN) children and their families. The project supports family and cultural literacy, awareness and identity through celebration of their stories through books, oral traditions, and art to provide an interactive, enriching experience.
The APALA Family Literacy Focus Committee assists in administering and promoting Talk Story.
The Talk Story grant is aimed to give financial support to libraries and community organizations who want to introduce a Talk Story program into their library, focusing on APA or AIAN cultures.
