LIBRARY SCIENCE EDUCATION COORDINATOR. Missouri State University Libraries. Assistant or Associate Professor, tenure-track, 12-mo. position. Minimum salary $67,000, excellent benefits.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Oversees all aspects of library science program. Guides cooperative arrangement with School of Information Science and Learning Technologies of the University of Missouri. Teaches graduate library science courses and supervises practicum experiences. Serves as functional department head for library science and children's and young adult services. Serves on Library Management Team and reports to Dean of Library Services.
QUALIFICATIONS: Required: Earned doctorate in library and information science or related field from regionally-accredited higher education institution. Experience working with K-12 school libraries. Demonstrated ability to teach. Excellent, demonstrable, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to interact effectively with faculty, staff, and students in an academic environment. Preferred: Knowledge of K-12 school curriculum and assessment. Record of scholarly publication and professional development. Knowledge of trends in library science; knowledge of application of technology to a library setting; ability to work cooperatively with other library science programs. Ability to teach library science core courses. Demonstrated excellence in teaching, including strong commitment to distance learning, a student-centered focus, and ability to assume leadership role in state and national professional organizations and the university. Supervisory experience; demonstrated leadership ability; ability to work with community groups; ability to work in, initiate, organize and set priorities in a team environment; and, demonstrated commitment to library services for culturally and ethnically diverse populations.
