The North Carolina State University Libraries, recognized as the first recipient of the Association of College and Research Libraries’ Excellence in Academic Libraries Award, offers a working environment of innovation, teamwork, and continuous interaction with students and faculty to further the educational mission of NC State University. The NCSU Libraries invites applications and nominations for the position of Associate Head, Access and Delivery Services.

This position offers the opportunity to join a dynamic department as one of four librarians in a staff of 35 working to provide a welcoming atmosphere and top-quality services for the university community. Access and Delivery Services encompasses circulation, collection maintenance, print and electronic reserves, current periodicals, interlibrary loan, microforms, media, and remote shelving operations. Some services are offered 24 hours a day during the fall and spring semesters.

The Associate Head shares leadership of a department that is engaged in developing and implementing next-generation user services, personalized to bring needed information to the user, any time, any place. The incumbent provides front-line management and support of circulation and collection maintenance services, staffed by 13 full time employees and a large cadre of student assistants. Supervising, coaching, and developing staff are key responsibilities. The Associate Head recommends, articulates, and administers library access policies for the University community and the public, and maintains active, effective communication with library employees and user groups. In collaboration with other departments, she or he helps customize and extend the integrated library system (SIRSI Unicorn) to advance services and deliver essential management information.

Required qualifications include an ALA-accredited MLS or equivalent advanced degree in library or information science and two or more years relevant experience, including supervisory experience.
