The University of Colorado Libraries in Boulder, Colorado, invites
applications from forward-looking librarians for the position
of Associate Director for Administrative Services. The associate
director is a tenured faculty position that reports to the Dean
and Director of Libraries and provides senior leadership for a
dynamic organization currently engaged in several innovative and
exciting initiatives, including the construction of a 15,000 square-foot
Learning Commons and the design of a digital institutional repository.
Appointment will be at the associate professor level. The associate
director manages the Administrative Services Division, which is
responsible for library information technology, fiscal, personnel,
administrative, and management information services. The associate
director is a member of the Libraries' Administrative Cabinet
and is responsible for planning, formulating, and administering
policies. The position oversees a division that consists of 3
FTE faculty, 18 FTE classified staff, and numerous student assistants.
A significant part of the responsibilities of this position includes
research and creative work and service in keeping with the tenure
standards of the University of Colorado at Boulder.
Requirements for the position include
. Master's degree from an ALA accredited program of Library
and Information Services
. At least five years of progressively responsible professional
experience, preferably in an academic library, including substantive
experience in one or more of the following areas:
o Budgeting and fiscal operations
o Personnel operations
o Library information technology systems
. Strong interpersonal skills
. Ability to work in a collaborative environment
. Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills
. Demonstrated successful supervisory experience
. Evidence of achievement in research and creative work and
service sufficient to merit tenure at the University of Colorado,
Boulder.
Preferences include
. Statistical analysis and reporting
. Planning and facilities management
. Security
. Assessment of services and performance
. Negotiating service contracts
Experience in any of the above will enhance a candidacy.
Appointment and Salary:
The successful candidate will be appointed as a full-time (12
month) tenured faculty member. Appointment will be at the associate
professor level. Starting salary range will be $90,000-$105,435.
Benefits include 22 working days of vacation, ten paid holidays,
liberal sick leave, university group health plans, group life
insurance, TIAA/CREF retirement/annuity, and support for scholarly/professional
activities. Tenured librarians are eligible for sabbatical leave.
