Type: Full Time Job Summary: Roosevelt University invites nominations and expressions of interest for the position of University Librarian.

The University Librarian serves as an advocate for the college, both internally and externally, and works in partnership with all constituent groups.

The University Librarian will be an experienced professional who has a clear understanding of emerging trends and issues and the vision, energy and creativity to address them.

The University Librarian is directly responsible for administering all aspects of library services and functions, including budgeting, strategic planning, personnel management (personnel selection, supervision and professional development), collaboration with other university units, fundraising and overseeing the design of a proposed new library facility.

This is an administrative appointment (without faculty rank) that reports directly to the Provost and Executive Vice President.

Roosevelt offers graduate and undergraduate programs in arts and sciences, business, performing arts, education and professional studies, including doctoral degrees in psychology and education, and is currently planning a new College of Pharmacy which will grant the Doctor of Pharmacy degree. Minimum Qualifications: An MLS degree from an ALA-accredited institution is required.

The University Librarian will advance the mission of the library to provide the University community access to the information, services and environments needed to strengthen teaching and learning.

The ideal candidate will have multiple years of progressively responsible academic library experience; a user-centered vision; a clear understanding of the changing role of libraries and scholarly communication; possess current knowledge of issues facing higher education and academic libraries; working knowledge of academic libraries; demonstrated ability to lead new initiatives and manage projects; evidence of budgetary, strategic planning, personnel management and facilities management skills; experience implementing emerging information technologies in libraries; strong communication and interpersonal skills; evidence of ability to work collaboratively with internal and external partners; commitment to diverse populations; demonstrated flexibility in changing environments; and a record of professional achievement; advancement and development experience.
