Library Services Manager
The San Mateo County Library is offering a challenging career opportunity
for an exceptionally qualified and motivated individual to fill the
position of Library Services Manager, Library Experience. The Library
Services Manager position is responsible for implementing the Librarys
Service Model as well as planning, organizing and managing public
library programs and services system-wide. This senior management
position receives general direction from the Library Director and
Assistant Director and is a member of the Librarys Management
Team.

Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidates will have the ability to:
Visualize, design and deliver non-traditional and innovative library
services that meet the needs of the community;
Develop and direct the implementation and achievement of program goals,
objectives, policies and procedures;
Assist in library administration including preparing and administering
a budget and monitor program cost effectiveness;
Develop strategy, resolve day-to-day operational issues, and assist
in the achievement of the Librarys Vision;
Assess needs and implement library programs to meet the needs of the
public and other organizations and partners;
Research, analyze, and evaluate new service delivery methods and techniques;
Establish standards of performance and appropriate workload criteria
for community libraries;
Lead and manage major strategic initiatives for the system;
Inspire, motivate, and mentor others;
Problem solve using a collaborative and teamwork approach;
Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, (speaking ability
in another language is strongly preferred) and make public presentations.
Qualifications
Completion of a Masters degree in Library Science or recognized
equivalent degree, from an American Library Association accredited
college or university is required.
In addition, the successful candidates must have the knowledge and
skills necessary to perform the role identified in the description
of the position.
A typical way to qualify for Library Services Manager is four years
of increasingly responsible professional library experience, including
one year of supervisory responsibility.
