Reference & Instruction Librarian for dynamic, service-oriented program of humanities and social sciences reference in an outstanding college library. Full time, 12-mo. appt. One of the country’s most distinguished liberal arts colleges, Oberlin College has a long history of leadership in educating women and minorities and is deeply committed to academic and artistic excellence, social justice, and service learning. The Reference & Instruction Department (four librarians + one assistant) is an integral part of the new Academic Commons, which provides coordinated information, research, technology, and learning assistance. The department operates as a self-directed team, working collaboratively to plan, implement, and evaluate services. The team provides leadership and direction for all aspects of the department’s services, programs, and operations in the areas of reference and research assistance, instruction and information literacy, outreach and promotion, and print and electronic resources. The position will also include some work with archives/special collections. All librarians in the team report to the Director of Libraries.

Oberlin College is located in Oberlin, OH, 35 miles from Cleveland, and is noted for its architecture, public spaces, and vibrant cultural life. Substantial reference experience required, with 2+ years professional experience strongly preferred.
