Digital Services Librarian (Tenure-Track)


Rollins College is looking for a service-oriented librarian eager to help shape a dynamic, forward-looking liberal arts college library through the ongoing implementation and support of digital resources, services, and systems with primary responsibility for the development of the SirsiDynix Symphony ILS. This is a tenure track faculty position; the successful candidate is expected to be appointed as an assistant professor, although previous experience and qualifications may be taken into account in determining initial rank.

Under the direction of the Head of Digital Services & Systems, the Digital Services Librarian will work with the Digital Services & Systems department and the rest of the library to plan, implement, integrate, and maintain digital systems including the SirsiDynix Symphony ILS, the Serials Solutions Knowledge base, and 360 Suite, the library's web presence, EZProxy, ILLiad, RefWorks, ContentDM, and a number of third-party vendor online resources. The successful candidate will also assist library users, faculty, and staff in the use of the library's digital systems and, like all full time librarians at Rollins, will participate in reference service, instruction, and liaison with academic departments.

MLS from an ALA-accredited library school and systems, automation or digitization experience are required. Preferred qualifications include experience with the administration of Integrated Library Systems, ideally Sirsi; experience designing and maintaining web pages; working knowledge of Solaris/Unix, HTML, XML, CSS, Java, Javascript, and/or PHP; experience with electronic resource management systems, digital library implementations, Blackboard or similar course management systems, and/or graphic design for the Web.

The successful candidate will demonstrate most if not all of the following knowledge, skills, and abilities: the abilities to communicate well orally and in writing, to interact with the public effectively and courteously, and to work in a team environment and independently; an appreciation for the liberal arts and the role of the library in higher education; strong analytical/problem-solving skills and attention to detail; skills in the implementation and administration of a variety of computer software used in the library; demonstrated knowledge and experience with web-based resources; ability to collect, manage, and communicate numerical information accurately and clearly; enthusiasm for teaching and experience with information literacy instruction with groups and individuals; potential to present, publish, or otherwise contribute to the library profession; familiarity with Windows, Microsoft Office, pc hardware and peripherals, and basic network understanding/skills; experience with access methods such as IP authentication, proxy servers, and EZproxy; familiarity with blogs, wikis, media-casting, RSS, or other Web 2.0 applications; demonstrated ability to troubleshoot problems with systems and electronic services.
