The Miami University Libraries seek a collaborative, self-motivated, service-minded professional for the position of Catalog Librarian, reporting to the Head of Technical Services. The Catalog Librarian is responsible for cataloging non-book materials, primarily for the Instructional Materials Center, and other monographic materials as necessary. The Catalog Librarian supervises the copy cataloging operations of the department and works closely with colleagues in Technical Services to maintain the departments cost-effectiveness and quality of work while employing innovative technologies and practices. Duties Performs original and complex copy cataloging
for all monographic formats and languages; emphasis on non-book
materials, including all media formats Requirements Masters degree in library or information
science from an ALA-accredited institution Preferred Experience in an academic library This is a full-time, permanent, 12-month appointment at the rank of Assistant or Associate Librarian, depending on qualifications. Appointment as Associate Librarian requires documented record based upon very strong performance in primary professional responsibilities, very strong performance in either service or scholarship/creative activity, and strong performance in either service or scholarship/creative activity.
