The University of New Mexico, Valencia Campus is accepting applications for Lecturer II or III, Library Manger/Director. This is a full-time, 12-month, non-tenure track position. The position begins July 1, 2009.

Located about 30 miles south of Albuquerque in rural Valencia County, the University of New Mexico-Valencia Campus is a two-year branch campus of the University of New Mexico. With an emphasis on teaching excellence, Valencia Campus offers vocational and technical courses as well as academic transfer courses to the citizens of Valencia and northern Socorro counties. The faculty and staff serve a student body of approximately 2,000 each semester.

Salary: Base salary range for the twelve-month faculty position is $50,000 to $53,000 for Lecturer II or III, depending on qualifications and experience. An excellent package of benefits is provided.

Summary of duties and responsibilities: Under the general supervision of the Dean of Instruction, the Library Faculty and Manager/Director provides leadership for the development, assessment, administration and oversight of all library services, including, but not limited to: public and technical services (including all original cataloging and direct oversight of copy cataloging activities), facilities, equipment needs, library budget planning, collection development, library instruction and faculty outreach, acquisitions, and computer operations. Supervises and evaluates full-time library staff and faculty. Represents the Valencia Campus Library on various campus and state committees.

Minimum Qualifications:
" Master's degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited institution or ALA-recognized international equivalent.
" Five years academic library experience.
" One year library management experience.
" One year cataloging experience using LC classification.
" Must be legally authorized to work in the USA.

Preferred Qualifications:
" Demonstrated excellent written and oral communication skills.
" Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks.
" Demonstrated ability to lead in a collaborative environment and a commitment to shared decision-making.
" An understanding of how the library is an integral part of learning in a liberal arts college consistent with the mission of UNM-Valencia Campus.
" A record of service to the profession and evidence of ongoing scholarly achievement.
" Knowledge of current issues and trends in scholarly communication, pedagogy, and librarianship such as copyright, plagiarism, intellectual freedom, technology issues and assessment.
" Evidence of strong commitment of service to students and others in the campus community.
" Demonstrated ability to adopt & effectively use new technologies in areas such as personal computing, webpage design and/or Web2.0, and an enthusiastic understanding of issues related to library and educational technology such as library automation, university information systems, and/or course management systems.
" Two or more years demonstrated experience in the following areas:
" LC cataloging (preferably using III (Innovative Interfaces Inc.) and/or OCLC).
" Interlibrary loan using OCLC.
" Providing reference services and instruction using online databases, the Internet and traditional print resources.
" Library management.
" Effective supervision.
