[Posted 2010.1.22] Chattahoochee Valley Libraries Chattahoochee Valley Libraries (Columbus, GA) seeks a creative, dynamic childrens librarian and manager to become the next head of the Columbus Public Librarys Childrens Department. The successful candidate will have in-depth knowledge of child development and literature. A passion for developing and implementing childrens programs and services is a must. The Childrens Department Head is responsible for the organization, management, supervision and effective functioning of the Main Librarys Childrens Department. Responsibilities include training, motivating and evaluating Childrens Department staff (5 FTEs), developing and presenting programs to children ages birth to 11 and engaging in collaborative outreach programs to promote the library within the community. In addition, this position serves as a key member of the Childrens Steering Committee and is a part of the team that will plan the future of Childrens Services for the library system. Chattahoochee Valley Libraries is a thriving four county library system headquartered in Columbus, GA approximately two hours outside Atlanta. The system serves a 200,000+ population circulating 1.3 million items last year. The Aflac Childrens Room and new outdoor Childrens Reading Garden provide a beautiful environment for childrens programs and services. The library, in addition to a 125 seat auditorium, has several large meeting rooms. Programs are limited only by your imagination! Minimum requirement is an MLS from an ALA-accredited program. Five years of childrens librarian experience with at least two years of management and supervisory experience preferred. Starting salary range: $45,625-$53,738 with excellent benefits.
