The Asian Pacific American Librarians Association (APALA) Executive Board is proud to endorse Yasmeen Shorish (she/her) as the Association of College and Research Libraries’ 2027-2028 presidential candidate. Yasmeen is the Associate Dean for Research & Scholarly Communications at James Madison University Libraries, where she oversees open access, data services, AI ethics, and the scholarly publishing landscape.
Yasmeen is a champion of diversity, equity, and inclusion, data management, and equitable scholarly communication. She is also a community builder by creating opportunities for colleagues to work together across academic libraries. We believe Yasmeen’s vision, mission, and goals align with APALA, and that her experience with library leadership, collaboration, and commitment to DEI makes Yasmeen an excellent candidate for ACRL President.
