The Asian Pacific American Librarians Association (APALA) is proud to endorse Patricia “Patty” Wong as the American Library Association’s 2020-21 Presidential Candidate. Wong’s commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion and success of library workers of color cannot be understated. She is a mentor to many, a champion, and role model to all. Her leadership within and commitment to APALA spans decades and includes work on almost every committee, including the role as 1999-2000 APALA President.

Following her APALA presidency, she served as the first Asian-American Executive Board member for the American Library Association from 2001-2005 and is currently reprising that role in her second term on the Executive Board. She continues to work to create an association that values and promotes libraries and library workers everywhere.

APALA looks forward to collaborating with the first Asian-American President of the American Library Association and believes Wong is an exceptional candidate representing the diverse voices of APALA and ALA memberships and beyond.
