The APALA Scholarship and Awards Committee is excited to announce Carol Ng-He as the 2025 recipient of the Gayatri Singh Award.
Gayatri Singh was a long-time APALA member, community builder, activist, and friend. Gayatri served on several APALA committees and was known for the way she welcomed each person as an individual with kindness and compassion.
The Gayatri Singh Award provides a $500 scholarship to one APALA member annually to participate in professional development engaging with equity, diversity, inclusion, and justice.
Carol will use the Gayatri Singh Award to enroll in the “Inclusive Library Leadership” program offered by The Information School at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Carol is the Associate Director of Boxer Library at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science in North Chicago, Illinois. Carol has held leadership roles on committees and interest groups in various professional associations, including the Chicago Area Archivists, the Art Libraries Society of North America, and the Visual Resources Association. In 2020, Carol was named Member of the Year by the Chicago Area Archivists for her excellence in service to the community.
