Press Release Travel Grant Award 2023
The Asian/Pacific American Librarians Association (APALA) Scholarships and Awards Committee is excited to announce the recipient of the 2023’s APALA Travel Award : Erika Fitzpatrick! Erika Fitzpatrick is a Youth Services Librarian and Teen Specialist at Central Rappahannock Regional Library in Stafford, VA, and she is so excited to be attending the ALA Annual Conference for the first time!
The committee was impressed with her work with incarcerated teens, her dedication to intellectual freedom and the growing teen volunteer program that she runs. She noted in her application that her work with incarcerated teens had just recently started and she hoped to connect at ALA with those “with more experience in this area and learn about creative solutions they have come up with to provide fun and enriching library programs within the confines of detention facility rules and limitations.”
