A Story Walk: Drawn Together in the City of Issaquah, WA

Two years ago, Drawn Together, written by Minh Lê and illustrated by Dan Santat, won APALA’s Asian/Pacific American Award for Literature for best picture book. The announcement was made during the ALA Midwinter Conference in Seattle, WA on January 28th, Since then, it went on to win many more awards including ALSC Notable, ILA Notable, and several state awards.

It now returns to the Seattle area, transformed into a story walk for all to enjoy. Issaquah Library, King County Library System, and Downtown Issaquah Association, in collaboration with Popup Story Walk and the City of Issaquah are the lucky recipients of a grant that made this happen. Residents and visitors will be able to stroll through Rainier Trail Park and experience the Drawn Together story walk from June 13 to July 2, located right behind the historic Shell Station at 232 Front Street N, Issaquah WA 98027.

Follow this endearing story of a young grandson and his Thai-speaking grandfather who overcome their communication barriers through art. All paths lead to the library where patrons can borrow books inspired by the walk. Fans will find that King County public libraries have a vast collection of books on AAPI heritage, heroes, picture books, and DC comics.
